Even though sanitation and hygiene, and menstrual health and hygiene (MHH), have emerged as fields of research, the available evidence is still limited. Market potential and opportunities, and the benefits associated with different types of interventions relative to their costs are also not well understood, and there are gaps in the quantitative data on the longer term health, education, economic, climate and environmental impacts of investments in sanitation, hygiene and MHH. 

We work to better understand and quantify climate resilience and the broader gender and human development impact of different types of investments. This requires the development of innovative methodologies for market-based approaches and different types of financing mechanisms, and the development of datasets and approaches that allow us to estimate the health, education, economic, climate and environmental outcomes of inventions. Read our commissioned assessments here.
